Tuning Methods

OBD Tuning

OBD Tuning allows us to tune your vehicle directly through the OBD port, without removing the ECU. A tuning dongle will be provided to you, and your tuning license will be activated remotely by our team. The dongle will also be married to your vehicle's VIN, ensuring it is paired specifically with your vehicle. Once activated, you'll be able to use the tuning app to install/remove your custom tune directly from your own garage.

Bench Tuning

Bench Tuning is a tuning method where the ECU is removed from the vehicle and connected directly to our tuning equipment outside of the car. This allows us to access and program the ECU when tuning through the OBD port is not currently supported.

How it works: Remove and ship us your ECU → we program the ECU with your custom tune → we ship the ECU back to you → reinstall it in your vehicle.

Technology is constantly evolving. Some vehicles that currently require a bench tune may eventually become tunable directly through the OBD port as new tuning capabilities become available. If OBD tuning becomes supported for your vehicle in the future, the tuning process may no longer require ECU removal.

Bench Unlock

Bench Unlock is the process of unlocking your ECU outside of the vehicle so it can accept tuning software. This is required for certain vehicles before a tune can be installed.

How it works: Remove and ship us your ECU → we unlock the ECU on our bench → we ship the ECU back to you → your ECU is now ready for tuning.

Important: An ECU unlock does not necessarily mean the vehicle can be tuned through the OBD port. After the ECU is unlocked, some vehicles can be tuned directly through OBD, while others may still require bench tuning.

As tuning technology continues to develop, vehicles that currently require bench tuning may become compatible with OBD tuning in the future.
